Details on the August 8 Dance

X Dance returns August 8 at the Center at North Park in Franklin Park, Illinois. Join us as we return from our month-long break to soak up some summer fun.

Dance lessons will start at approximately 8:00 p.m. Open dancing will follow at 9:00 pm with April Prince as your DJ.

X Dance Celebrates Sixth Anniversary with Benji Schwimmer

X Dance will host its sixth anniversary even January 25 - 26th, 2008. This year’s special guest instructor/performer is 2006 “So You Think You Can Dance” winner, Benji Schwimmer.

Weekend festivities include:

  • A Friday evening open dance with a one-hour workshop taught by Schwimmer and a Strictly Swing performance by Schwimmer.
  • Four Schwimmer-taught workshops on Saturday during the day.
  • A Saturday evening dinner with a workshop taught by Schwimmer, a his solo performance.

Additionally, the first 50 people who pre-register will be entered into a lottery to win a time slot for a private with Schwimmer (private lesson and floor fees apply).

List of X Dance Festival Workshops Now Available

The titles of the workshops Benji Schwimmer will be teaching have been released. They are:

  • Musical Interpretation for Social Dancing (Saturday Afternoon)
  • Show Stopper Whips (Saturday Afternoon)
  • “So You Think You Can Dance” Move (Saturday Afternoon)
  • Hottest New Pattern for 2008 (Saturday Afternoon)
  • WCS - Working With Your Partner (Saturday Evening)

Chicago Classic Information Now Available

The Chicago Classic returns in March 2008. To learn more about the return of this huge dance event, download the flyer, which gives details on some of the performers and instructors, and also allows you to register early for the event.

The Classic will take place at the Marriott-Chicago O’Hare, March 14-16, 2008. Book your room on or before February 29, 2008, and take advantage of our special convention rate of only $99.00 per night. Mention the Classic when making your reservation to guarantee the special rate.

Social Dance Party Cruise to the Caribbean in 2008

A ten-day dance cruise is lined up for February, 2008. Swingin’ @ Sea 2008, is now taking reservations for a cruise to the Caribbean. The trip inclues:

  • Over 30 hours of social dancing exclusively for swing dancers
  • Over 20 Dance workshops from top teachers (wcs, salsa, cha-cha, hustle, nc2 and country)
  • A DVD notebook of all workshops
